The Adventures of Huckleberry Hashimoto. Jack Douglas, Emmy Award-winning writer. Dutton May 1964 Second Printing, stated. May 1964 Inscription to Tina Louise on front free endpaper reads May ’64/To Tina Louise/Thank Heaven for Big Girls/Love/Jack/Douglas/P.S. Have a Jolly/Opening Night!! This inscription is most likely a reference to Tina Louise’s May 26, 1964 opening night in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Fade In – Fade Out starring Tina Louise along with Carol Burnett, Dick Patterson, Lou Jacobi, and Jack Cassidy. On the inside front cover, Jack Douglas has taped a snippet from “Sick” magazine which refers to a dedication from his latest book. Douglas jokingly includes the snippet and tapes a typed letter to Tina regarding the article. The letter is hand signed J.D.  The title page has Imperial House 150 NE 69 NY 10021 written in pencil. Unclipped dust jacket in archival protective cover is near fine with $3.95 price and second printing stated on inside front flap, light age toning, very minimal soiling, almost nonexistent edge wear. Blue pictorial boards are fine with black design on front board, black type on spine, light wear to unbumped corners, light bumps and wear to spine ends, no loss of type and no rubbing, strong, square boards. Pages are bright, clean, unmarked aside from pages 46 and 47, which have a few spots of light soiling (see photo). $700.

Baskervilles

The Hound of the Baskervilles. McClure, Phillips & Co. 1902 first edition. Published March, 1902, R on copyright page. Illustrated not stated on title page. Red boards with white type have rubbing, soiling, edge wear, loss of type in spots, spine is age toned, type completely rubbed off, wear and fraying at spine ends, back board is rubbed. Loose, laid in Frontispiece has previous owner inscription on reverse, damp staining at inside corners. Title page has light foxing. Faint damp staining near gutter on some pages and occasional light foxing. Otherwise, pages generally clean and unmarked. Hinge crack visible at pages 14, 144, 161, and perhaps other spots. Illustration at page 54 laid in. Pages are secure. Very readable copy with numerous illustrations. 249 pages. 8 pages of ads at the rear. $290.

The Confessions of Nat Turner. Random House SIGNED Limited Edition #217 of 500. From private collection. Owner had book sealed in plastic. Bright reddish-orange boards with silver and black are like new with no visible wear, bumps, or use. NO sunning or fading to spine. Front and back free endpapers have a few small marks that appear to be tape residue (they are not sticky). Top edge is a smooth brown. Fore and bottom edges are clean, unmarked. First Edition page is signed by the author and numbered 217. Pages are clean, bright, unmarked. Binding is very tight. Book is most likely unread. Orange slipcase is structurally sound with no tears, breaks, or bumps. There is very light soiling. $280.

Reddish-brown Easton leather binding with gilt and black type and design, all edges gilt, with red-brown silk moire endpapers and matching ribbon marker. Cover has no apparent wear. Interior is unmarked, tight, like new. Gilt edges on top and bottom are like new, fore edge has minor loss of gilt. Octavo. 16.5 x 24 cm. 117 pp. With black-and-white reproductions of illustrations by C.F. Tunnicliffe and Raymond Sheppard. Introduction by Charles Scribner, Jr. $125.
The Master Key: 1901 Bowen-Merrill edition. Dark green silk boards with pasted down illustrated front have light edge wear with more extensive wear at spine ends and a few marks on rear board. Front illustration good. One piece paper tape on inside front cover and two on inside rear cover for unknown reason. They do not appear to be repairing or hiding anything. Previous owner’s name on front free endpaper. Front hinge is cracked. Pages are still intact. All but one illustration has come loose, and many are softened at the fore edge. Crack in rear binding at page 237. Pages and illustrations are generally clean and bright with some small marks. $225.

Box of Brownies: “The Brownies ABC”, “You Can Count on Brownies”, “The Brownies Joke Book”, and “The Brownies Song and Dance Book”. Slipcase is strong with no breaks at the seams with overall general wear and some substantial chipping. Books have sunned spines with some minor wear at spine ends. Song and Dance book has a chip at top of spine. The Count book has a small spine tear. Book pages are clean, bright, unmarked.
